Adding Volume To Hair

Adding Volume To Hair

One of the biggest things we hear from our clients is that they find their hair feels flat or thin. They want tips for adding volume to hair, and our experienced stylists are happy to help. In this blog post we have put together some top tips for adding volume to hair. We hope you find them useful!

The Basics of Adding Volume to Hair

  1. If you feel like your hair could be thinning then it’s a good idea to get it checked out. Thinning hair can be common after the menopause, but can occur as early as your 20’s. So, if you think you’re losing more hair than usual, speak to a medical expert.
  2. Improve your diet to add volume to your hair. Foods such as spinach or kale that are rich in iron are really good for hair. Biotin and Zinc are good for fuller hair too. Experts have said that cooking with coconut oil and olive oil can help with hair thickness too.
  3. A good head massage can help nurture healthy circulation. This in turn will promote healthy hair growth too. We would recommend a little lightweight hair treatment oil that you can rub into your scalp. You’ll be surprised at how much difference it can make.

Hair Care to Add Volume

  1. Determine whether your hair is dry or oily, speak to one of our hair stylists if you’re not sure. They can help you select the right hair care products to take away the unneeded oil, or gently moisturise your hair as required.
  2. There are some really good volumising shampoos and conditioners out there. We have some we recommend for sale in the salon too. Why not speak to your hair stylist and ask which shampoo or conditioner they would recommend for your hair.
  3. When towel drying your hair, be gentle. Vigorously rubbing fine hair with a towel with cause damage. Instead we would recommend that you gently blot dry your hair. If you have a microfiber towel we would definitely recommend that too as it is super-absorbent and gentle on your hair.

The best approach for adding volume to hair is to speak to your hair stylist in Peterborough and ask what they think. They will know you and your hair and be able to make the best recommendations for you.
