As friendly and experienced hairdressers there are lots of questions we are often asked via our Facebook page and during hair appointments. One of the questions we are most commonly asked is how long it will take for a client’s hair to grow six inches.
Sadly, as with most questions we are asked, there is no set answer. However, on average your hair will grow around half an inch every month. This means it will take around a year for your hair to grow 6 inches in length.
If you have fast growing and healthy hair it will take a shorter time than this.
We have put together some hair growth advice to help you grow healthy, thick and strong hair.
- Even though you want your hair to grow, you still need regular trims. Try and have a small amount trimmed off your hair every 12 weeks as a very minimum. This will help keep the outline length of your hair in thick, healthy and strong condition.
- Treat yourself to a deep moisturising hair treatment or hair mask. We have some great hair masks available for purchase in the hair salon. Don’t use the hair mask too much, once a week is the perfect amount of usage of a hair mask.
- Try and limit how much you use straighteners and other heated tools on your hair. Try to use them no more than once a week. When using straighteners don’t hold them in one place for more than a second. If you don’t keep the straighteners moving this will result in damaged hair as it will snap your hair strands.
- Think about your diet too. Healthy hair growth needs a lot of vitamins and your hair will reflect what you are eating. In many cases if you are too busy to eat a healthy diet or you’re feeling stresses – this will be clear to see in your hair. Top up on your vitamin Bs because these are great for healthy hair.
Good Luck on growing your hair. We look forward to seeing you soon for your regular hair trim appointment.
