There is no straight answer to this question unfortunately. How often you need to get your haircut depends on your hair. You need to take into account your hair type, your hair length and also your hair goals. The best thing you can do is to speak to your helpful hairdresser and ask her what she thinks and what you are aiming for. She can then recommend how frequently you need haircuts.
Everyone’s hair grows an average of around half an inch a month. Of course everyone is unique and some people will find their hair grows father or slower than this.
As we have explained in a previous blog post, regular trims won’t make your hair grow faster. Instead regular trims mean that your hair is in better condition so will loo longer and healthier as it grows.
How Often Should Short Length Hair Be Cut?
This depends on whether you want to keep your hair short, or if you are trying to grow your style out. If you want to keep your hairstyle short than a haircut once every 4 weeks if ideal. However, if you are trying to grow your short style out then every 6 weeks is recommended. This means as you grow your hair it is kept in good condition.
How Often Should Medium-Long Length Hair Be Cut?
The longer the hair means the older the hair. Older hair is not as healthy and can be more fragile. If you have medium to long length hair and you want to maintain the hairstyle and keep healthy hair then a regular haircut every 6 – 8 weeks is recommended. However, if you are trying to grow your hair longer, aim for 8-10 weeks. But remember, you must keep it healthy!
How Often Should Chemically Treated Hair Be Cut?
Just like long hair, chemically treated hair is fragile too. In some cases chemically treated hair is in worse condition that long hair. To avoid the risk of hair breakage we would recommend a regular haircut every 4-6 weeks. However if you are looking to grow your hair out then try a regular haircut every 6-8 weeks.
Remember, these are rough guidelines. It is highly recommended you talk about your hair goals with your friendly hairdresser in Peterborough and they can help make sure your have the right amount of regular haircuts.
