The amazing hairdresser in Peterborough, Jemma has recently joined our team here at Locks and Shades in Yaxley. We wanted to give you the low-down on who she is, what she’s like and what she loves about hairdressing. This means you can get to know more about our new hairdresser in Peterborough before you book your first hair appointment with Jemma;
How Long Have You Been Hairdressing?
I have over 10 year’s salon experience as a hairdresser. I did my work experience in a salon and while I was at school. All I wanted was to be a hairdresser; the work experience definitely helped me want this more.
What’s Your Biggest Hair Fail?
Biggest hair fail? Embarrassingly, I once tried a full fringe on myself; this definitely didn’t work for me at all. I also dyed my hair a dark mahogany brown which did absolutely nothing for my skin tone. It’s great working with an experienced team of hairdressers at Locks and Shades because you can share hair style and hair colour ideas with then, for yourself and clients.
What Hairstyle Do You Love Creating For Clients?
There are loads of hairstyles I love creating, but my faves are the big and bouncy blow dry’s and textured waves because I think they look fab. Also because the client leaves with a real bounce in their step, as well as their hair.
Thoughts On Current Hair Trends?
My favourite current hair trend is ‘The Lob’! I love Scrunchies too as they remind me of Spice Girls days. I think Glitter Roots are a great look for festivals; but definitely not great for the office look!
Which Celebs Hair Would You Love To Get Your Hands On?
As a hairdresser, I would love to get my hands on Caroline Flacks hair, Emma Willis’ hair and Holly Willoughby’s hair. I think they’d all be so much fun to work with.
What 3 Hair ‘Things’ Would You Take On A Dessert Island?
I would take my Invisibobbles, a Wet Brush and loads of Oil Reflection by Wella. However, my favourite hair product is Eimi Sugar Lift!
Top Hair Care Tip
My top hair care tip is when you are drying your hair with a round brush for the last 5-10 seconds, before moving onto the next section; blow dry on a cool setting to fix the style in place. Works wonders every time!
Why Locks and Shades?
I love being a hair stylist because it allows me to be creative and make people feel good about their hair. I feel this is exactly what Locks and Shades do. I moved to Locks and Shades to further my career in the hairdressing industry and to work with a great team. I know I’m going to really enjoy it here.
