While we don’t like to admit it, the rainy weather is coming. Not only does the rain play havoc with your mood, but it plays havoc with your hair too. The odd downpour here and there as you are running to the car or nipping to the supermarket can be a nightmare.
In this blog post we share some top tips for rain-proofing your hair. These tips should help avoid the risk of a rain-induced bad hair day!
Volume starts and ends at the roots. The more volume in your roots the more chance of keeping your hair looking thicker and fuller. While a paddle brush will minimise the volume in your hair, a round brush will encourage more volume in your hair, especially when brushed upside down.
Winter weather in the form of cold winds and rain can drag the moisture out of your hair. You need to lock in as much moisture into your hair as possible. Consider treating yourself to a moisturising conditioner treatment or a moisturising hair mask.
Hair made wet by the rain can become really tangled. We would recommend you have a comb (not a brush) in your handbag. Wet hair is more prone to damage, especially when it is tangled. Using your comb at the ends and then slowly working up to the roots will gently care for your hair.
As soon as you are out of the shower, blow dry your hair. The temporary bonds in your hair start to form quickly so by blow drying them into shape quickly you can form your hair into the shape and style you want. However do try and avid heat treatments as they can damage your hair when heated tools are used regularly.
On a wet, rainy and dull morning there is no better time than to experiment with some updos for your hair. Things like plaits, braids and pony tails are some really good styles to try for the wetter weather. Not only will it look great but it will be less affected by the wet and wintry weather too.
