Rumour has it cold water on your face after a skin treatment will help close the pores and protect your skin. However, is this true? Also, can the same be said for cold water on your hair?
Should you finish your shower with cold water? This is exactly what we will be looking at in this blog post;
There is no solid proof that ending your shower with a blast of cold water on your hair has any benefit at all. In fact if you finish your shower with cold water there is no difference to washing it with warm or hot water.
That said; there are some things that you may want to consider when washing your hair under the shower.
For example, hair experts recommend that you aim the shower head or the spray of the water away from your scalp. Instead direct it towards the mid-shaft of your hair. This is especially the case when conditioning your hair.
By pointing the flow of water towards the mid shaft of your hair and away from the scalp you are preserving more of the hair product. This also saves and protects your scalp from harsh water pressure.
Remember: if the water is too hot this can damage your hair too. In the same way heated styling tools can cause damage to your hair!
So that is that. No more hopping around the shower in cold water. You don’t need to take a deep breath in preparation for the cold spray of water. The cold water makes no difference to your hair or shine! There is no need to finish your shower with cold water.
